Bad Bunny Returning To WWE To Host Backlash

Writer Daniel Davis

WWE announced on Wednesday that Grammy Award-winning musician and former WWE performer Bad Bunny will host the Backlash premium live event in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on May 6. Known as the celebrity who may have had the greatest crossover match in the history of the sport, it was only a matter of time before Bad Bunny made his way back to WWE, and it will be intriguing to see if this hosting gig leads to another match down the road. The event will take place at Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot, and it will mark the first WWE pay-per-view in Puerto Rico since New Year's Revolution in January 2005. The heavily-downloaded and streamed musician discussed how important WWE returning to his home country of Puerto Rico was when he noted, "In 2005 when I was a kid, I wasn't able to attend New Year's Revolution at el Coliseo. Finally, 18 years later WWE returns to the island with a massive event and this time I won't miss it." WWE.com posted comments from Triple H who noted, "We’re excited to bring Backlash to San Juan as the demand for WWE premium live events outside of the continental United States continues to grow." He added, "Bad Bunny is one of the world’s most popular entertainers and nowhere is that more evident than in his native Puerto Rico."

First Big Event Following WrestleMania 39

Seeing as how Backlash is the first big event following WrestleMania 39, it would stand to reason that Bad Bunny might make an appearance. That certainly hasn't been confirmed, but it would make sense to have him at the Showcase of the Immortals to promote the event. Perhaps some kind of angle will be teased to draw more interest in him as the host.
