Austin Theory Wins US Title At Survivor Series

Writer Isabella Bartlett

Tonight WWE is holding its annual Survivor Series premium live event. Headlining the show are the Bloodline, led by Roman Reigns, and The Brawling Brutes, led by Sheamus. The two will meet in a War Games cage match.RELATED: Drew McIntyre Reveals Vince McMahon Saved Him From Horrible GimmickOther matches on the card included a Smackdown Women's Championship match between the defending Ronda Rousey and challenger Shotzi and a grudge match between Finn Balor and AJ Styles.

Austin Theory Regains The United States Championship

One of the two title matches on tonight's card was a three-way match for the United States Championship between the champion Seth Rollins and two former US champions, Bobby Lashley and Austin Theory.

One odd point about this match was that Theory's titantron was replaced with a Beyblade advertisement. It seemed like a bizarre technical error before commentary promoted Beyblade on-air.

The title bout was fast-paced and played to each man's strengths. Each competitor had moments where it looked as though they were about to win the title, but in the end it was Theory who came out on top.

After his failed cash-in on Monday Night Raw, Austin Theory arguably had the most to prove tonight. Many fans were beginning to brush off Theory and disregard him as a competitor in WWE altogether. On the other hand, Bobby Lashley has yet to redeem himself from his loss to Seth Rollins. And for Rollins' part, the champion was at the start of a strong title run that more likely than not would've seen him turn face. Now, all that is up in the air.

With this victory, Austin Theory has become a two-time United States Champion.
