Andrade Sheds Some Light On Charlotte Flair's WWE Absence

Writer Sophia Bowman

Andrade has been making headlines for the past week or so, and it's not because of what he has been doing on AEW TV. Quite the contrary as the former NXT Champion has been publicly commenting on his lack of opportunities in AEW. That led to Andrade and Sammy Guevara trading shots on Twitter and then coming to blows physically backstage on Dynamite this week.

Andrade Explains Charlotte Flair's Absence

Prior to being sent home on Wednesday, Andrade spoke with Mas Lucha (H/T to Fightful for the transcription) about his current situation, touching on whether there's any chance he returns to WWE. While he admitted to still having a good relationship with Triple H, the AEW star claimed he hasn't been in touch with him for a while. However, since his wife, Charlotte Flair, still works at the company, he wouldn't be hard to contact should The Game want or need to speak to him.

Although Flair is still a WWE Superstar, it's been a while since she was last seen on TV. The Queen last wrestled at WrestleMania Backlash in May, losing an I Quit match to Ronda Rousey. Andrade shed a little light on why Flair has been away from the ring for so long. “It is difficult at the same time because Ashley (Charlotte Flair) has time off due to personal reasons and she will specify them in future interviews,” Andrade revealed.

Andrade And Flair's Conflicting Schedules

Flair and Andrade have gotten married while the multi-time Women's Champion has been taking some time off, but the AEW star insinuated their conflicting schedules was a grind for him and his new wife. “It was very heavy because she worked on Thursdays to work on weekends while I traveled on Tuesdays and returned on Thursdays... Right now we are good because I get to see her more.”

All of that not only explains why Flair has been taking time away from the ring but also why Andrade has become somewhat disillusioned with his standing in AEW. The Mexican wrestler was supposed to be wrestling Dark Order's 10 on Rampage this week, a match that would have resulted in his AEW exit if he lost. That match is now off after Andrade was sent home following his clash with Guevara.
