9 WWE vs. WCW Matches We Never Got But Would've Been Great
Daniel Cobb
Wrestling dream matches are something that often gets spoken about, especially those between top WWE and WCW stars. The two companies were huge at the time, and while there ended up being plenty of crossover matches between wrestlers from the two, there were many that never happened.
Even some of the WCW stars who did join WWE ended up having their characters changed, which didn't lead to the same type of match that fans wanted. However, had they actually have happened when the wrestler was working for WCW, the matches could have been iconic. While they may not have ended up working, like Goldberg and The Undertaker, many of them would have created fantastic moments.

9 The Undertaker vs. Sting
When it comes to WWE vs. WCW dream matches that never happened, The Undertaker facing Sting is one that always comes up. They were two fantastic wrestlers who had very specific gimmicks, both being fairly dark and eerie.
Put together, it could have been a big-money match that fans would have loved. While they were such big characters, in the ring they could both really go as well, which is what would have made this an outstanding clash.
8 Triple H vs. DDP
Triple H and DDP were two very sound in-ring talents and together they could have put on a fantastic match. WWE really didn't use DDP to his fullest potential when he signed, which was a real shame, and matches against talents like Triple H were missed.

DDP was a naturally great babyface, and having a top heel like Triple H to go up against would have made for a really special match. Two men who knew how to tell a story in the ring and didn't rush spots so a nice long technical classic would have been brilliant.
7 Vince McMahon vs. Eric Bischoff
While they technically did have a match on Raw, it was a no-contest that didn't really lead to anything. However, a full match with the right build between Vince McMahon and Eric Bischoff could have been something really special.
Sure, it wouldn't be a five-star classic, but in terms of the possible build-up, the tension, and storyline this would have been something amazing. Two people who genuinely hated each other just going to war would have been a brilliant moment.
6 The Hardy Boyz vs. The Steiner Brothers
Brute power and strength meet amazing highflying and risk-taking abilities, this is a match that sells itself. These are two of the greatest tag teams of all time, and while they were very different in the ring, together they'd have been perfect as opponents.
Matt and Jeff were always amazing sellers, being able to put anybody over by the fact they'd risk their bodies every night. The Steiner's could really have put them through their paces in what would have been a special back and forth match.
5 Big Show vs. Vader
When it comes to big men, there are few who to ever have more success than Big Show and Vader. However, these two behemoths sadly never got the chance to share a ring together which is a real shame.

A match between them wouldn't be about technique or flashy moves, but it would provide a truly big fight feel between two genuine monsters who would have made for a great fight.
4 Ken Shamrock vs. Jushin Thunder Liger
Ken Shamrock is one of WWE's most underrated stars from the Monday Night Wars and his in-ring style really was ahead of its time. The MMA background is something that could have collided perfectly with Jushin Liger.
The WCW star is one of the greatest to ever step into the ring, creating some innovative offense that always looked fantastic. Up against Shamrock, he'd have had been able to work his highflying style along with some fantastic counters to create an exciting matchup.
3 Kurt Angle vs. Goldberg
Kurt Angle is the type of wrestler who could pull an amazing match from anybody, and with Goldberg's pure power and overall presence, they could've done something special as opponents.

The build-up would've been special for this one given how entertaining and goofy Kurt could be in comparison to Goldberg's straight-faced approach. But the idea of blending Kurt's amateur style with Goldberg's powerhouse abilities could have been fun. Goldberg's offense also included sprinkles of martial arts strikes and submissions which would have helped.
2 Steve Austin vs. Hulk Hogan
It's crazy to think that two of the biggest wrestlers of all time, who both competed in the same era never wrestled each other. They were involved in one handicap match together, a singles match between them never came to be.
Considering what a huge attraction Hogan facing The Rock was, there's no doubt that him facing Steve Austin would have been just as big. It would have sold out any arena all on its own and could have led to a historic moment in wrestling.
1 The Rock vs. Rey Mysterio
Rey Mysterio was a huge part of WCW's success, with his high-flying ability really helping to set the company alight. But had he collided with The Rock, the two of them could have had a really fun encounter.
With The Rock's over-the-top selling and huge personality being injected into the match, this could have been something really special. Whether it was The Rock as a heel or just two top babyfaces going to war, this could have been an incredible moment. It's worth noting as well that according to Bruce Pritchard on his podcast, The Rock tried to change his Backlash 2003 match with Goldberg to a match with Rey Mysterio at the last minute.
