6 WWE NXT Wrestlers Who Are Destined For The Main Roster (& 4 Who Will Be Released)

Writer James Rogers

Over the years it has become clear that NXT is an important part of WWE, as wrestlers develop and begin to build their legacy there, which makes things easier if they make it to the main roster. Several NXT wrestlers were recently selected in the WWE Draft, but other talented wrestlers, who everyone thought would be drafted, stayed on the developmental brand. Maybe their time is not now, but there are some NXT wrestlers who are still destined for the main roster.

However, there are other wrestlers who are unlikely to make it to the main roster and will probably be released eventually. So, without further ado, let's take a look at six WWE NXT wrestlers who are destined for the main roster, and four who will be released.

10 Destined For The Main Roster: Ilja Dragunov

Ilja Dragunov

Ilja Dragunov is one of the best wrestlers in NXT UK history. He is extremely talented in terms of in-ring skills and has delivered several great matches throughout his career. It is presumed that the only reason he was not called up to the main roster is because he has yet to develop his character a bit more. Still, Ilja Dragunov is destined for the main roster, and he should make his debut soon. By 2025 Dragunov should be on the main roster.

9 Will Be Released: SCRYPTS

SCRYPTS, formerly known as Reggie, was already on the main roster, but was sent to NXT where he adopted this new gimmick. Frankly it seems that this new character is not working, and SCRYPTS does not seem to have shown improvement. He is extremely athletic and can perform insane stunts with ease, but that's it. He doesn't know how to tell a story in the ring, his mic skills are mediocre, and he's not charismatic. With that said, he will most likely be released.

8 Destined For The Main Roster: Ava

Truth be told, nepotism exists in wrestling, especially in WWE. We've seen it with Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase Jr. Charlotte Flair, Dominik Mysterio, among others, and it's not that they don't have talent, but it's obvious that their path to WWE was much easier than any other wrestler.

Ava is the daughter of none other than The Rock, and that practically guarantees her a spot on the main roster. She will have to write her own story, but for now the eyes are on her because of her father's legacy.

7 Will Be Released: Elektra Lopez

Elektra Lopez

Elektra Lopez was part of Legado del Fantasma, but she stayed in NXT because she wasn't ready for the main roster, and so veteran Zelina Vega took her place in the stable. Since then, Lopez has been on her own in NXT, but instead of getting better, she's been exposed. It turns out that Elektra is nothing more than an average performer with zero charisma, not to mention that she's already 30 years old. Sadly, Elektra Lopez is more likely to be released than we are to see her on the main roster.

6 Destined For The Main Roster: Charlie Dempseycharlie dempsey submitting hank walker

This is another case of nepotism, as Charlie Dempsey is William Regal’s son. However, Dempsey is already proving that he is talented as his father, and he belongs to the WWE.

His in-ring skills are awesome, he has an exceptional technique, can perform power moves, and he has sense of in-ring psychology as well. His promos are average, but he is developing his persona, and it seems he understands how to work a crowd. Charlie Dempsey is destined for the WWE main roster, hands down.

5 Will Be Released: Quincy ElliottQuincy Elliot

Quincy Elliot is an inclusive character that isn't working. He fails to connect with audiences, which means he is failing in his main purpose. As far as wrestling skills go, the "Superdiva" is just mediocre, he's too heavy and slow, his strength is also not great for someone his size, and he doesn't know how to tell a story in the ring. To make matters worse, his promo skills are non-existent and he has no charisma. These types of gimmicks can work, and Velveteen Dream is a proof of that, but Quincy Elliot should try something else, or else he'll be released.

4 Destined For The Main Roster: Carmelo HayesCarmelo Hayes

Absolutely every NXT Champion has competed on WWE's main roster, and Carmelo Hayes will be no exception. We're talking about an extremely talented worker, who always delivers in the ring, cuts great promos, and oozes charisma. He already looks ready to make the jump to the main roster, but they seem to be honing in on him. Carmelo Hayes is definitely destined to shine on the WWE main roster.

3 Will Be Released: Shanky

Jinder Mahal and Shanky

Shanky is 7' 0", so he should be a monster heel as well as Omos. However, for some inexplicable reason, his gimmick was goofy, and he used to dance. It seems Triple H realized how ridiculous that gimmick was and hasn't used Shanky at all, in fact, he hasn't had a match since July and hasn't appeared on TV either. Shanky is about to turn 32 and has neither a gimmick nor enough talent to stay in WWE for much longer.

2 Destined For The Main Roster: Tiffany StrattonTiffany Stratton

Tiffany Stratton has just over a year of professional experience, but she looks like she's been working in the industry for 10 years. Her in-ring skills are above average; her character work is great, and she's a natural talker. Stereotypes may no longer exist in WWE, but she looks like an ideal Divas Era women's champion. Tiffany Stratton just turned 24 and her future looks bright.

1 Destined For The Main Roster: Bron Breakkerbron-breakker-nxt-champion-apr-5

Everyone expected Bron Breakker to be selected in the WWE Draft, but he unexpectedly stayed in NXT. According to reports, the only reason Breakker stayed in NXT was to develop his heel persona, but he is expected to get the call soon, perhaps after SummerSlam. The 25-year-old has the potential to become one of the biggest superstars of his generation, so he is destined to shine on the main roster.
