Writer Sophia Bowman

Jeff Hardy is one of the most decorated champions in WWE history. Hardy has had a trophy-laden career amassing numerous titles throughout his illustrious career. He has won the WWE Championship once, the World Heavyweight Championship twice, the Intercontinental Championship five times, the United States Championship once, the defunct European and Light Heavyweight Championships once apiece, and nine Team Tag Championship reigns alongside his big brother Matt.

Inevitably, not all of Hardy's title reigns have been great throughout his career. Although plenty of his title reigns have been memorable. Hardy is one of the most popular WWE superstars of all time, who always rises to the occasion. However, for what whatever reason, some of his reigns as champion wasn't so spectacular.

10 Worst: SmackDown Tag Team Championship (2019)

The Hardy Boyz are one of the greatest Tag Team Champions of all time, which does not mean they are exempt from having a few poor title reigns. The brothers won their first Smackdown Tag Team Championship on the April 9th, 2019 episode of SmackDown.

They defeated The Usos to claim their ninth Tag Team Titles in WWE together. Thus becoming the first team to win the Raw, SmackDown, World Tag Team, and WCW Tag Team Championships. Unfortunately, their reign was short-lived. Jeff suffered a knee injury, which forced the Hardys to vacate the titles, 21 days later. It was a forgettable reign, and the injury kept Jeff out of action for almost a year.

9 Best: WWE Championship - 1st Reign (2008 - 2009)

Hardy was expected to win the Money In The Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania 24. Unfortunately, he failed the Wellness Policy for the second time. Thus, he was removed from the match and suspended for 60 days.

By June 2008, Hardy was a member of Smackdown and inserted in the WWE Championship picture. After a few near misses at No Mercy and Cyber Sunday. The Charismatic Enigma finally reached the pinnacle and won the WWE Championship for the first time at Armageddon in 2008. He was featured in a triple threat match with Edge and Triple H.

His reign only lasted 28 days, dropping the Championship back to Edge at the 2009 Royal Rumble after Matt betrayed him and nailed with him a steel chair. Despite, his lone reign as WWE Champion, Hardy's title win at Armageddon was a memorable one for his fans.

8 Worst: WWF Hardcore Championship - Second Reign (2001)

In 2001, Hardy was still involved in a tag team with his brother Matt but still ventured into singles competition. The WWF Hardcore Championship had the 24/7 rule which meant a title change could happen at any time.

Rob Van Dam and Kurt Angle were in a Hardcore Championship match on the August 13, 2001, edition of Raw. Hardy brought a referee to the ring and Swanton Bombed Van Dam to regain the Hardcore title.

Of course, his title reign was not going to be a long one as he held the gold for six days. He lost the championship in his first title defense back to RVD in a Ladder match at SummerSlam.

7 Best: World Tag Team Championship - Sixth Reign (2007)

Despite being on separate brands, the Hardys once again reunited to win World Tag Team Championship gold. The Hardys won the titles the night after WrestleMania 23 in a 10-man tag team battle royal on the April 2, 2007, episode of Raw, ending the reign of WWE Champion John Cena and Shawn Michaels.

It was the Hardys' sixth reign as World Tag Team Champions and for the first time since 2001. They had an entertaining reign as Champions as they successfully defended the titles three times on pay-per-view. They defeated Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch at Backlash and Judgment Day. Followed by a highly entertaining Ladder match against Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas at One Night Stand.

Their reign came to a halt on the June 4th edition of Raw, finally losing to Cade and Murdoch, ending their longest reign as Champions on 63 days.

6 Worst: Intercontinental Championship - First Reign (2001)

Jeff Hardy is one of the greatest Intercontinental Champions of all time with five reigns to his name. However, his first run as champion was memorable but short-lived. Hardy upset Triple H on the April 12, 2001, episode of SmackDown.

As expected, Triple H invoked his rematch clause on the April 16 episode of Raw. He regained the title, ending Hardy's first reign in short order. Nevertheless, Hardy's first Intercontinental Championship run is still relevant to this day. He holds the record of being the youngest Intercontinental Champion at the age of 23.

5 Best: United States Championship - First Reign (2018)

Hardy suffered a shoulder injury at the tail-end of 2017 which kept him out of action for seven months. Once again, Hardy made history by defeating Jinder Mahal on the April 16, 2018, episode of Raw to win the United States Championship for the first time. He became the second man after Chris Jericho who completed the feat a year prior to becoming a Grand Slam winner under both formats.

The former three-time WWE World Champion proved to be a credible United States Champion. He retained the title against Mahal at the Greatest Royal Rumble later that month. The following week, he would once again retain the United States Championship against his old rival Randy Orton at Backlash. His reign lasted 90 days as he would lose the title to Shinsuke Nakamura at Extreme Rules in July.

4 Worst: World Heavyweight Championship - First Reign (2009)

Hardy's first taste of being a WWE Champion lasted 28 days at the start of 2009. Five months later, he was once again involved in the title picture. He challenged Edge to a ladder match for the World Heavyweight Championship at Extreme Rules.

It was a classic encounter as expected between arguably the two greatest ladder match competitors. Hardy finally had his moment once more as he climbed the ladder to claim the title for the first time. Unfortunately, the celebrations were cut short. CM Punk raced down to the ring and cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase, he hit Hardy with the GTS a couple of times, with Hardy's reign lasting around five minutes.

3 Best: Intercontinental Championship - Third Reign (2006 - 2007)

2006 was a highly successful year for Hardy with the Intercontinental Championship. He was featured in a high-quality feud with Johnny Nitro over the title. Hardy's third reign with the title began on November 13, 2006, episode of Raw, which was held in Manchester, England.

The first successful title defense on pay-per-view was at Cyber Sunday against former champion Carlito. Hardy did not defend the title on pay-per-view until New Year's Revolution in January 2007. The rivalry with Nitro culminated in an outstanding Steel Cage match, which Hardy won. Umaga ended Hardy's impressive 97 days as champion on the February 19, 2007, edition of Raw.

2 Worst: Hardcore Championship - Third Reign (2002)

The Hardcore Championship was on its final legs in July 2002. The 24/7 rule was still in full swing but not as good as it once was back in the Attitude Era. Hardy was enjoying singles competition as he was on Raw, and Matt was on SmackDown. The younger Hardy won the Hardcore Championship for the third and final time against Bradshaw on the July 29, 2002, episode of Raw.

As such with the Hardcore Championship, do not expect a reign to be a lengthy one. Hardy's worst title run in the WWE  came to an end to Johnny Stamboli. It sums up the state of the Hardcore Title, which finally laid to rest the following month.

1 Best: Intercontinental Championship - Fourth Reign (2007 - 2008)

The Intercontinental Championship is generally awarded to the workhorse in the company. Hardy became just that as he won the title from Umaga on the September 1, 2007 edition of Raw. He became a four-time Intercontinental Champion in the process.

Hardy did not defend the title on a pay-per-view in this reign. Although he did retain the title on Raw against Snitsky and Carlito. Hardy also retained the gold against Orton by disqualification, who he was challenging for the WWE Championship at the 2008 Royal Rumble. Hardy's 189 days as champion was his longest reign with any Championship in the WWE. Chris Jericho ended his run on March 10, 2008, on Raw.
