5 Best Tag Team Partners Of Rey Mysterio's Career (& The 5 Worst)
Isabella Bartlett
Ever since being showcased on WCW Monday Nitro during the late 90s, Rey Mysterio's popularity has never waned. Despite never even receiving as much as a mid-card push from WCW management, Mysterio was still among the most popular performers in company history.

When WCW was purchased by WWE in 2001, many fans wondered how Mysterio would fare in the "Land Of The Giants." Since debuting in 2002, Mysterio has been one of WWE's top stars and biggest merchandise movers. He even became World Champion in WWE. On top of his singles success, Mysterio has also been a great tag team wrestler during his career. All his partners weren't always on par with him, though.
10 Best: Billy Kidman
In WCW, Rey Mysterio was part of a special group of performers who put the entire WCW Cruiserweight division on the map. As a multiple-time WCW Cruiserweight Champion, Billy Kidman was also a big contributor to the division's success. In 1999 though, WCW management lost interest in the Cruiserweights.
As a result, many of the division's brightest stars tried finding a new place on the WCW card to fit in. Mysterio and Kidman would eventually start teaming up successfully. They'd go on to be two-time Tag Team Champions together in WCW as part of The Filthy Animals. They'd even go on to team a couple of times in WWE.
9 Worst: Ultimo Dragon
During the 90s, WCW worked hard to cultivate a working relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling. One of the biggest Japanese wrestling stars WCW was able to secure during this time was the highly regarded Ultimo Dragon. During the 90s, Dragon was viewed as arguably the greatest Cruiserweight performer on the planet.
Unfortunately for Dragon, injuries would begin to pile up. By the time he arrived in WWE in 2002, he was still a huge name but he was a shell of his former self. During this time, Dragon and Rey Mysterio teamed up on a few occasions. When they teamed up in the 90s, they were a dream team. By the time they linked up in WWE though, Dragon was no longer on par with Mysterio.
8 Best: Konnan
Since the late 80s and early 90s, Konnan's name has carried the same clout in Mexico that Hulk Hogan's name carries in the United States. As a result, Konnan was the perfect middle man to help bring elite Mexican performers into WCW in the mid-90s. One of the performers Konnan helped break into WCW was Rey Mysterio.

Mysterio and Konnan would be close confidantes in WCW. The two men would eventually be two of the founding fathers of The Filthy Animals stable. While part of that stable, Mysterio and Konnan experienced great success as partners, even winning the WCW Tag Team Championships on one occasion.
7 Worst: Brad Armstrong
In every era of pro wrestling, there are typically a few performers who are extremely gifted in the ring but couldn't captivate a fly, let alone a wrestling audience. Unfortunately, Brad Armstrong fit that bill to a tee. Armstrong is part of the Armstrong wrestling family which also includes patriarch "Bullet" Bob Armstrong and Brad's younger brother, "The Road Dogg" Jesse James.
Unfortunately for Brad, he didn't share his younger brother's gift of gab. Brad spent most of his career in WCW's lower mid-card. In 1999, Armstrong underwent a character change. He changed his name to "B.A." and joined Master P's No Limit Soldiers. During this time, he teamed with a maskless Rey Mysterio. Their partnership was random and brief, with most fans not even remembering it.
6 Best: Edge
In 2002, Rey Mysterio made his much-awaited arrival in WWE. Upon debuting, Mysterio immediately became a fan favorite. He along with Edge, Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, Chavo Guerrero, and one more performer formed "The SmackDown 6." They were a collection of extraordinary workers that briefly elevated SmackDown over Raw in the eyes of many fans.
The six men would feud over the newly minted WWE Tag Team Championships. Eventually, Mysterio and Edge would capture the titles. Their championship run would be short but the two would continue to tag occasionally throughout the years. They were always a formidable team.
5 Worst: Dominik Mysterio
One of the sad truths about pro wrestling is that it's far from fair at times. Often, success in the business can depend on who you know rather than talent or merit. Unfortunately, Dominik Mysterio is a prime example of that. To be fair, it's not Dominik's fault that his father is Rey Mysterio. However, it's hard to deny the advantages that Dominik has received because of his famous father.
Had Dominik not been so well connected, it's fair to wonder whether he'd even make the NXT roster, let alone the main roster. Regardless, Rey and Dominik are the only father/son Tag Team Champions in WWE history. Although, Dominik still has a ways to go before he's anywhere near as good as his old man.
4 Best: Batista
In WCW, Rey Mysterio was a fan favorite but never got any real support from WCW management. In WWE, Mysterio was again a massive fan favorite and although Vince McMahon was reluctant to push the smaller performer, he eventually did. This resulted in Mysterio becoming one of the company's biggest megastars.

In late 2005, Mysterio joined forces with another massive WWE star Batista. The two would go on to win the WWE Tag Team Championships in December 2005. Despite not having a long reign, the two would continue to team throughout the years. In 2009, the pair would go from partners to opponents, telling a great story along the way.
3 Worst: Torrie Wilson
In the late 90s, Torrie Wilson rose to fame alongside Billy Kidman. At the time, Wilson and Kidman were romantically involved. Their relationship eventually got worked into the WCW storyline. While Kidman was part of The Filthy Animals, Wilson was by his side, making her a de facto member of the group. That would be around the time that Wilson and Rey Mysterio first teamed together.
A few years later, in WWE, Mysterio would once again find himself teaming with Wilson. This time it would be against Jamie Noble and Nidia. Wilson's affiliation with The Filthy Animals made it understandable for her and Mysterio to team up in WCW. In WWE however, their pairing made less sense. Luckily, it wouldn't last long.
2 Best: Eddie Guerrero
Throughout wrestling history, there have been sets of performers that just seem destined to be tied to each other throughout their careers. This was certainly the case with Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero. When both men entered the public consciousness in the mid-90s, they were standouts in WCW's groundbreaking Cruiserweight division. They would be both rivals and partners in WCW.
In WWE, the pair continued to work together frequently. Again, as both partners and opponents. They would go on to win the WWE Tag Team Championships in early 2005. They would open the action at WrestleMania 21, going one-on-one while reigning as WWE Tag Team Champions. The two would remain as close as brothers until Guerrero's untimely death in 2005.
1 Worst: Tygress
By 1999, WCW had lost all the momentum that at one time made them the top pro wrestling promotion on the planet. At that point, WCW started throwing all sorts of stuff against the wall, hoping something would stick. WCW thought maybe they could replicate The nWo's past success with a young, hip faction. Enter The Dirty Animals.
In theory, WCW's idea wasn't a bad one. Unfortunately, The Filthy Animals were made up of performers that WCW had only half-heartedly pushed before, resulting in disappointing results. One especially terrible idea was letting former Nitro Girl, Tygress, join the faction and wrestle. Rey Mysterio had the unenviable task of teaming with Tygress on a couple of occasions. Needless to say, she wasn't Mysterio's best partner ever.
