- The top stars of the Attitude Era included loners like Stone Cold Steve Austin, factions like D-Generation X, and superstars like The Rock, all of whom were so good at promos that they didn’t need anyone speaking for them. As a result, managers and valets often seemed like more of a midcard thing, and thus ended up getting forgotten by many fans. Looking back at the Attitude Era, there’s no shortage of totally forgotten pairings of wrestlers and managers, so let’s look at a few more of these manager-client relationships, including singles stars, tag teams, and a singles star who used to be in a tag team.
The WWE Attitude Era was full of contrasting characters, from the hell-raising Stone Cold Steve Austin to the uber-cool The Rock to the cerebral Triple H to the dark and sinister The Undertaker. Complementing this vast array of performers were managers and teammates who may not have shone as bright, but certainly did their part in adding to the entertainment.

While the above names and their associates are remembered, fondly or not, by fans even today, some others have managed to slip through the cracks of time and memory. This includes performers and their managers who many will barely remember all these decades later.

The top stars of the Attitude Era included loners like Stone Cold Steve Austin, factions like D-Generation X, and superstars like The Rock, all of whom were so good at promos that they didn’t need anyone speaking for them.
13 * Jeff Jarrett & Tennessee Lee
Attitude Era fans certainly remember Jeff Jarrett for his tendency to smash guitars over the heads of his enemies and perhaps that time he basically held the Intercontinental Championship hostage in real life for more money. Less remembered, however, is his manager from his Attitude Era return to WWE. Fresh off a run in WCW where he kinda-sorta was a member of the Four Horsemen, Jarrett brought a heel manager with him from “Where the Big Boys Play”: Tennessee Lee, formerly known as Col. Robert Parker. Portraying pretty much the same character — a parody of Elvis Presley’s real-life manager — Tennessee Lee’s tenure in WWE was brief, lasting about five months.
12 * The Godwinns & Hillbilly Jim
It seems like every era of WWE has at least one set of rural bumpkins, with The Godwinns — Henry O. Godwinn and Phineas I. Godwinn — carrying over from the New Generation era to the Attitude Era. Presented as babyfaces, this pig-farming tag team had one of WWE’s most enduring representatives of the gimmick as a manager in Golden Era mainstay Hillbilly Jim. It’s weird to think of Hillbilly Jim being anywhere near the Attitude Era, but he managed the Godwinns until they began to move away from their silly personas, eventually evolving into Southern Justice.
11 * Chaz & Marianna
One of the period’s stranger gimmicks was that of Beaver Cleavage — formerly Mosh of The Headbangers — whose whole thing was appearing in vignettes doing incestuous parodies of the 1950s sitcom Leave it to Beaver along with his valet/mother, Mrs. Cleavage. However, when it came time for the duo to debut for real, Beaver Cleavage immediately ditched the gimmick in a very Vince Russo “worked shoot.”

Instead of Beaver Cleavage and Mrs. Cleavage, the duo became Chaz and Marianna and went on to have a domestic violence storyline that culminated in a Headbangers reunion.
10 Goldust & Luna Vachon
In 1997, when Luna Vachon returned to WWE, she came in as Goldust's manager as he was feuding with Vader. She helped Dusty Rhodes' son transform into The Artist Formerly Known as Goldust, and they would enter the ring in various outfits and roles.
Not many fans remember their association, though, and the fact that Goldust was in a kind of transformative stage of his gimmick contributed to this. They did have their moments though, like the feud with Sable and Marc Mero, and impersonating the guises of fellow wrestlers.
9 Lo Down & Tiger Ali Singh
Perhaps the most obscure and unmemorable entry on this list, Lo Down and Tiger Ali Singh were associated between 2000 and 2001. Lo Down, consisting of D'Lo Brown and Chaz, itself had come together just a few months earlier.
The tag team adopted a lot of Singh's gimmicks and began coming to the ring in Sikh attire, though it wasn't of much help. Eventually, this bland partnership came to an end when they were all sent to International Wrestling Association in Puerto Rico.
8 Dan Severn & Jim Cornette
A legit hard guy in Dan Severn with a legendary UFC career joining WWE should have been a big deal. Especially so when you consider he was the reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champion at that point and had the notorious Jim Cornette as his manager.

However, things never panned out, and ironically, Severn is most remembered for wearing the various titles he had won in UFC and NWA when he came down to the ring. His is a case of a career underutilized and of bad timing, for the Michigan native would have been a guaranteed success in any other era.
7 The Truth Commission & The Jackyl
The Truth Commission consisted of a bunch of wrestlers who all came under the verbal genius of The Jackyl (a.k.a. Don Callis) when they found themselves in WWE. Interestingly, the manager had wanted to be a wrestler in this group, but Vince McMahon convinced him to be the group's spokesperson.
Such was the group's lack of success that a few members soon left, and The Jackyl would begin a new, even more bizarre stable, The Oddities. An ideal example for this list, if ever there was one.
6 Disciples Of Apocalypse & Paul Ellering
A biker-themed stable, the Disciples of Apocalypse was formed by Crush on a June 1997 episode of Raw. Their first few feuds were with Los Boricuas, headed by Savio Vega, and the new Nation of Domination, led by Faarooq.
However, their success was limited, and soon after, Crush left the company. Even though they then entered a high-profile feud with The Legion of Doom and Droz, with the former's ex-manager Paul Ellering joining DOA's ranks, things went south quickly, and the group saw a silent demise.
5 Terri Runnels & Hardy Boyz/Edge & Christian
Terri Runnels was manager to quite a few wrestlers/tag teams during her heyday, and two of her more famous charges were a set of rivals. She first managed the Hardy Boyz and helped them win quite a few matches until an untimely injury put her out.

When she returned, Runnels betrayed the popular babyface duo for the very team they had beaten earlier to win her managerial services, Edge and Christian. This association was also short-lived, and perhaps that is the biggest reason why both these associations are rarely remembered by fans today.
4 Test & Albert & Trish Stratus
On paper, a force to be reckoned with, Test and Albert (T&A) also had the perfect manager in the debuting Trish Stratus. Throughout 2000, they feuded with tag teams such as the Dudley Boyz and the Acolytes, but success eluded them.
This is perhaps why many wrestling fans do not remember this tag team and their manager today, the lack of success despite being quite good on paper. At least Trish went on to have a legendary run in the company, so not everything turned out badly.
3 Kane & Tori
By 1999, WWE had started to strip down the Kane character to show more human sides. And when Tori entered the WWE doors, so too did love enter the Big Red Machine's life in the company for the first time.
Tori would accompany Kane to his matches, and the two seemed to show good chemistry even as the latter slowly started showing a different side to audiences. However, as was the norm during the Attitude Era, she betrayed The Devil's Favorite Demon, and despite quite a memorable run, not many fans recollect their relationship.
2 Raven & Terri Runnels
This is another random association that the former Marlena was part of. Raven and Runnels began this partnership after the latter helped get rid of her former boyfriend Perry Saturn's new flame, "Moppy," a mop he believed was alive.

However, this was another brief partnership, and with Raven not being seen on TV soon after, there was not much the two could do. Perhaps a missed opportunity, the two together are barely remembered by fans today.
1 Val Venis & Trish Stratus
The two heels entered an association during the summer of 2000 when Val Venis was slowly but surely shedding any remnants of his envelope-pushing porn star gimmick. The midcard star even started sporting a new look, including a haircut, white boots, and trunks.
The partnership was successful enough that Trish Stratus helped him win a second Intercontinental Title by beating Rikishi, despite her also simultaneously managing T&A. However, it ended when Venis lost his strap at SummerSlam, and despite the relative success, not much is remembered about their alliance.
