Professional wrestlers will often do whatever it takes to raise the emotional stakes of their storylines, and one way of achieving that goal is by bringing people in from their families. Over the years wrestlers have used their children, their siblings, friends, and even their parents in storylines to draw fans in.

Some parents have added a lot of memorable moments to some storylines over the years, even if they're not natural actors or athletes. Fans can easily understand the emotions involved when a parent gets injected into an angle, and that's something that helps to elevate an angle when done properly.

10 John Cena

John Cena's father is a huge character who brings a lot of personality, which is why WWE has tapped into him several times over the years. He's willing to get stuck into different storylines, and that has led to some memorable moments, such as the time Edge went to the Cena family home.

He tormented Cena's father, adding a lot of heat to their rivalry. Meanwhile, Cena Sr. ended up getting physical during his son's rivalry with Randy Orton as the Viper pulled him over the barricade and nailed a Punt kick to him.

9 Nick Wayne

The most recent example of a wrestler using their parent in a storyline is Nick Wayne in AEW, who has brought his mother into his current storyline involving Christian Cage and Darby Allin. While it initially started with Cage calling her out and wanting her number for a date, that has since transpired into much more.

With Wayne turning on Allin to side with Cage, his mother has been left shocked at his actions. AEW has continued to push that by having her do a sitdown interview with Jim Ross, which has helped push Wayne's new heel gimmick.

The Miz's father is another parent who has a big character and a lot of personality, which was clear during the popular "Miz & Mrs." reality series. However, The Miz's father also got used to during his rivalry with Shane McMahon, which led to some memorable moments.

McMahon utilized Miz's father to get heat, and that all culminated during their WrestleMania clash when Miz's father ended up inside the ring. Seeing him confront McMahon led to a hilarious segment, and one that became meme-worthy amongst fans.

She has popped up on camera both in the ring and during backstage segments throughout Dominik's rivalry against his father, which added a lot to it. His treatment of his mother was the final straw in making his father fight him, which was a great final straw moment in their rivalry.

Johnny Gargano is someone who has always put a lot of effort into making his storylines, and that was the case with his angle against Adam Cole in NXT. They filmed a segment where Cole headed to Cleveland to visit places personal to his rival, one of which included Gargano's father's shop.

Cole ordered some pizzas and turned up, sticking a picture of himself up next to the wall of fame with Gargano's pictures before he went and interacted with some wrestlers that Gargano had helped to train.

Matt Hardy feuding against his own brother is something that people have never been fully behind, but when he turned heel on Jeff Hardy in WWE they did use their father to enhance the storyline. WWE pushed the idea that it was causing their father stress, which did help to push the storyline further forward.

Hardy has also gone on to use his father-in-law regularly as part of his Broken Universe. Senor Benjamin became a popular figure amongst professional wrestling fans due to his involvement in some of Matt's wackier ideas.

His father came into WWE television and ended up in a relationship angle with Dawn Marie, which frustrated Wilson.

Al Wilson ended up sticking around for a while with a full storyline taking place ultimately leading to him marrying Marie. It was one of the wildest storylines in WWE history, but one that did end up getting over with the fans.

Jack Swagger enjoyed a strong push at times throughout his WWE career, and one of those saw him involved in a rivalry with Kane. The Big Red Machine is someone who is known for doing whatever it takes to get into the heads of his opponents, causing them as much misery as possible.

When Zack Ryder shocked the world at WrestleMania 32 and won the Intercontinental Championship his father ended up jumping the barricade to celebrate the result with him. It was an unplanned moment and that led to WWE creating a quick storyline out of it.

The next night on Monday Night Raw he was at ringside once again when Maryse made her surprise return to the company. She ended up slapping Ryder's father which led to Ryder getting distracted and losing the Intercontinental Championship to The Miz.
