The Family Madrigal
"We Swear To Always Help Those Around Us, And Earn The Miracle That Somehow Found Us."
This line is in "The Family Madrigal," the first song of the movie, and it is important because it sets the tone of the entire film. Through this lyric, the character and values of the Madrigal family are made very clear; they are aware that they have been given immense gifts and blessings, and they all have dedicated themselves to helping those around them as a way to earn the gifts they have been given.
The Madrigals are inspirational people, their use of their magical gifts to help others is a huge part of the movie and a huge part of how they operate as a family.
Waiting On A Miracle
"I'm Sick Of Waiting On A Miracle, So Here I Go!"
"Waiting On A Miracle" serves as an inspirational turning point in the movie. When the Madrigals take a family photo without Mirabel, the only one without a gift, the exclusion is the final straw for the poor girl. It spurs her to break out into a song about how she's tired of being overlooked because she isn't "special" like the rest of her family.
Thanks to her courageous actions and her many great quotes in Encanto, Mirabel is an inspirational figure for many viewers. It is in this moment that Mirabel decides to take her fate into her own hands, choosing to act instead of waiting for something to change.
What Else Can I Do?
"How Far Can I Rise? Through The Roof, To The Skies, Let's Go!"
This lyric is particularly inspirational, as it also serves as a pivotal point in the movie. Isabella sings this line after finally overcoming Abuela's pressure and her own need for constant perfection, thanks to Mirabel's help. For the very first time in her life, she is liberated from the cage she's been trapped in, and in a joyous display of flowers, she wonders what other amazing things she is capable of.
This is a very empowering and inspiring moment; a young woman who was expected to be perfect her entire life finally gets a chance to express herself artistically because she realizes that she can do anything she sets her mind to.
Dos Oruguitas
"Vienen Milagros, Vienen Crisálidas, Hay Que Partir Y Construir Su Propio Futuro."
Dos Oruguitas is the only song on the Encanto soundtrack that is entirely in Spanish. It tells the tragic love story of Abuela and her husband. In the song, there is a lyric that translates to, "Wonders await you, just on the other side. Trust they’ll be there, and start to prepare the way for tomorrow."
This is a beautifully written line, and it conveys an inspiring and poetic message that all you need during difficult times is faith and trust that tomorrow will be better.
All Of You
"I Think It's Time You Learn You're More Than Just Your Gift."
When Casita falls apart and all the Madrigals lose their magic gifts, it comes as a severe blow to both the story and to the family themselves. As they grieve the loss of their gifts, Mirabel tries to cheer them up by telling them that their identities shouldn't just be tied to their gifts and that they are so much more than just their magical abilities.
Throughout her entire life, Mirabel has found her identity in being the different one, the one who didn't get a gift, but she now realizes that she and her entire family are more than what they do or don't bring to the table. This inspirational moment teaches the audience that what you can or cannot do does not define you as a person.
All Of You
"The Miracle Is Not Some Magic That You've Got, The Miracle Is You."
As one of Encanto's best musical numbers, "All of You" provides plenty of inspirational and thought provoking moments. This line is sung by Abuela, completing her character arc and development. Throughout the movie, Abuela puts a lot of pressure on her children and grandchildren to be perfect in order to keep the miracle burning and to serve their community.
In her concern to honor the miracle the Madrigals have been given, Abuela forgets that the true miracle is not the magic, it is her family. The miracle is her family, alive and well, not their magical abilities.
All Of You
"Let It In, Let It Out, Let It Rain, Let It Snow, Let It Go!"
This line is sung by Bruno, and it needs a little bit of context, as it isn't inherently inspirational. In this part of "All Of You," Bruno is explaining to his sister, Pepa, that when he told her that it, "looked like rain," on her wedding day, he meant that he could tell she was nervous.
He intended to tell her to stop holding her emotions back simply because it would affect the weather, and that it is better to let yourself feel things than repress those feelings. Bruno proves why he is one of Encanto's most likable characters as he tells his sister to, "Let it go," essentially, and those are inspirational words, as we all need to let ourselves express our emotions freely.
All Of You
"Come Into The Light, And No Matter What Happens We're Gonna Find Our Way."
At the end of "All Of You," when Bruno is finally reunited with Pepa and Julieta in one of Encanto's most endearing moments, he is very apologetic about the pain he caused them, but they comfort him, telling him that they are going to figure it out together.
These are very comforting words for Bruno, as he has been forgiven and fully welcomed back into the family Madrigal. These are very compelling and inspiring lyrics that boil down to, "Everything will be okay." Sometimes we all need to hear that.
All Of You
"We Have No Gifts, But We Are Many And We'll Do Anything For You."
This is probably one of the most beautiful moments in Encanto. When Casita is destroyed and the Madrigals are powerless, all the people of the village come together to help them rebuild their home, offering to help the family that has helped them tirelessly for years upon years.
It is a beautiful, full-circle, heartwarming moment of togetherness and community that serves as an inspirational moment for viewers.
