WrestleMania 2 is certainly is considered “the forgotten WrestleMania,” but it is also very unique for those two reasons. One year later, he would take on Roddy Piper in a boxing match. The stars of the NFL would participate in a massive WrestleMania 2 Battle Royal, won by Andre The Giant. Lawrence Taylor headlined WrestleMania XI against Bam Bam Bigelow. Snooki from the Jersey Shore teamed up with with Trish and John Morrison against LayCool and Dolph Ziggler. Maria Menounos teamed up with Kelly Kelly against Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres at WrestleMania XXVIII.

Shaq, Michael Che, and Colin Jost entered the Andre Battle Royal at 32 and 35. The Big mixed it up with several celebrities over the years but no bigger name than Floyd Mayweather and no bigger person than Sumo champion Akebono. Finally, Bad Bunny threw his hat in the ring at WrestleMania 37.

When a big match at WrestleMania works, might as well do it again the next year. Six times over, a massive WrestleMania match and rematch has happened at back-to-back shows. Hulk and Andre main event WrestleMania III and opened up round two of the tournament the next year.

The very first main event of two straight WrestleManias came when Bret Hart fought Yokozuna. The Hardys, Dudleys, Edge And Christian decoded one year wasn’t enough to obliterate each other with tables, ladder, and chairs. The Rock and John Cena hooked it up not once but twice in a lifetime, and of course The Phenom defended The Streak against HBK and HHH and back-to-back Manias, twice.

4 The Host Cities Of The Immortals

The host city of WrestleMania has become not just a destination to hold a wrestling card but the WWE takes over the entire city and holds all kinds of events over the years. Eleven cities have hosted WrestleMania surprisingly only one time. Seven cities or areas like Los Angeles/Anaheim have had the honor of hosting The Showcase Of The Immortals twice.

Considering the New York area has long been considered the WWE’s home base, it comes as no shock that NY/NJ has hosted WrestleMania on eight separate occasions.

3 5 Debuting Last Match Headliners

Aside from the original show’s tag team spectacular, six wrestlers have made their WrestleMania debuts in the final match - Ted DiBiase worked his way to the tournament final of IV. Sgt. Slaughter made his WrestleMania debut as the defending WWE Champion at VII.

Sid’s first Mania was hyped up as Hogan’s last. Yokozuna was not only the first ever Rumble winner to earn a title shot, but he was the first ever heel to win the WWE title at WrestleMania. Brock Lesnar made his grand stage debut against Kurt Angle at WrestleMania XIX. Lastly, Bianca Belair made her debut vs Sasha Banks at night one of WrestleMania 37.

2 7 Non-Title Matches Have Closed The Show

While the WWE Title has always been considered everything, several times a non-title match closed out the show. The inaugural event's main event was a massive tag team match between Hulk Hogan and Mr. T taking on Paul Orndorff and The Hot Rod. Several years later Hogan took on Sid in what was supposedly Hogan’s retirement match.

Lawrence Taylor became the second celebrity main eventer when he took on Bam Bam Bigelow. HBK’s swan song was the main event of XXVI the Rock and Cena’s first clash headlined XXVIII and The Boneyard Match headlined Night One of WrestleMania 36.

Whether a superstar intended WrestleMania to be their final match, or it was just an extended sabbatical, 13 matches have been hyped up as either the last stand or wound up being one more round for 13 superstars.

Roddy Piper (III), Randy Savage (VII), and Hulkamania (VIII) all had extended sabbaticals. But other legends like Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle, Ronda Rousey, John Cena, Rock, Batista, JBL, The Undertaker, and Stone Cold would say their WWE goodbyes on the grandest stage possible.
