10 Harsh Realities Fans Of Randy Orton Need To Realize
Daniel Davis
Randy Orton is a future first-ballot WWE Hall Of Famer, with few wrestlers in history having put together the career that he has. Inside the ring, he's incredibly smooth, while he has a fantastic ability to add small details into his performances such as his facial expressions that help to give him an edge over others.

Orton has dominated WWE throughout his tenure, and that has led to him building a huge fanbase for himself. However, while he's certainly a hit with the fans, that doesn't mean everything about him is perfect. Orton does have flaws both personally and as a performer, and that's something that can create some harsh realities for even his biggest supporters.
10 He's Injury Prone
Anyone who competes at the top level for as long as Randy Orton is going to deal with a few scrapes along the way, but the Viper is very injury-prone. Throughout his entire career, he has endured a lot of serious issues which have seen him spend plenty of time on the sidelines.
It's something that he has managed to fight through to continue performing, but he has been more injury-prone than most top stars from his era, which is a shame as it's robbed audiences of more Orton content.
9 Isn't A Strong Babyface
Some wrestlers are naturally great babyfaces, such as Rey Mysterio or Jeff Hardy, while other people are born to be heels. Randy Orton fits into the latter category because as a heel the Viper will go down as one of the greatest of all time.

He knows how to make fans detest him, and that's a true skill within itself. However, Orton has been tasked with performing as a babyface many times over the years, and that's a task that he has often struggled with as he's never truly clicked in that manner, despite his popularity.
8 He's Struggled On The Microphone At Times
Over the years, Randy Orton has made drastic improvements on the microphone and throughout the COVID-19 period, he has been able to take his game up a notch. However, before that stage, Orton was never one of the strongest talkers in the company, even though he could hold his own.
While Orton was able to carry himself in promos, he wasn't someone fans were excited to hear from and he didn't captivate in the same manner that others did, with this being a weakness for him.
7 Had Major Attitude Issues
Nowadays, Randy Orton is a family man who is very proud of being a father and a husband, which is something that he talks about regularly. That's the type of person that fans might choose to remember, but Orton has had some major attitude problems over the years.
This was particularly the case during the earlier stages of his career when Orton was young and arrogant. He believed in his own hype a lot, so much so that he even decided not to turn up to a rehearsal ahead of his WrestleMania 21 match against The Undertaker.
6 Works A Slow Style
Some wrestlers work at a fast pace, busting out high-flying moves to keep the fans engaged from start to finish, but that's not the case for everyone. Randy Orton doesn't fall into that category, as he often works a very slow and methodical style.
For a lot of fans that can be quite boring to watch, which is a harsh reality that a lot of his biggest fans wouldn't want to admit to. It can lead to some of his matches turning fans off, and that is a reality that some people don't want to admit.
5 He's Not Trustworthy
Randy Orton has had a lengthy career with WWE and the company has always treated him well, however, he isn't someone that WWE can truly trust. There are people such as John Cena and Triple H that WWE puts a lot of faith in, but that hasn't always been the case with Orton.

4 He's Been In Some Awful Storylines
Randy Orton has featured in some of WWE's greatest angles over the years, whether it be his work in Evolution, his heel run as the leader of Legacy, or seeing him go back and forth with AJ Styles. However, he's also been in a lot of terrible storylines as well over the years.
His work against The Fiend is an example of that, with something that just dragged on and didn't work properly. It proves that Orton isn't perfect at everything, as sometimes he isn't able to bring out the best in a tricky situation.
3 He Was Never As Big As John Cena
John Cena will undoubtedly go down as Randy Orton's greatest-ever rival, with the two men having had countless matches to the point where fans became worn out of seeing them against each other. They both rose to the top of the industry together, but it was Cena who truly became the face of the company.
While Orton has always pushed to try and keep up with his rival, it's hard to say that they're at the same level. Orton might have stuck around longer on a full-time basis, but he has never been as big as Cena, no matter what his fans might think.
2 Heavily Reliant On The RKO
The RKO is one of the greatest finishing moves of all time, but it has become something that Randy Orton has overly relied upon throughout his career. It's not just a move for him, it's something he's had as merchandise while he has turned it into a catchphrase as well.

Because the move is so exciting, it can bring a big pop in his matches that can hide a multitude of flaws if the encounter isn't a good one.
1 He's Not Always Motivated
When Randy Orton is motivated and actively cares about the work he's doing, there are few performers more exciting to watch. The problem with Orton is that isn't always the case. There have been many times over the years where he seems to just be going through the motions as a performer.
While Orton in second gear can still lead to entertaining matches, it doesn't bring out his best. That's something that has stopped him from truly reaching his potential, because had he been fully motivated throughout his entire career his body of work would be incredible.
